Do you picture God far away or close to you? Some people picture Him up in heaven, just doing his own thing. You know, looking down, just kind of monitoring all the situations, telling the angels, “Keep an eye on that guy and let me know what happens.” Nothing could be farther from the truth. God is as near to us as our next breath. He is concerned and involved, but not in a pestering kind of way. He is there to encourage and protect us, but we must acknowledge His presence. He is always thinking of us. We are the ones who forget to think about Him. In times of trouble when we need help the most, He provides us with the peace of God. In his book, “Anxious for Nothing”, Max Lucado says: “Note, this is not a peace from God. Our Father gives us the very peace of God. He downloads the tranquility of the throne room into our world, resulting in an inexplicable calm. We should be worried, but we aren’t. We should be upset, but we are comforted. The peace of God transcends all logic, scheming, and efforts to explain it.” I think of it as my own personal miracle every day. For 100 days now, I have been allowed to share my thoughts and stories about my faith in God. I have been gifted with extra hours in my day to read His word and practice my writing. I sincerely hope that someone has benefitted from these words that God has put on my heart. But one thing I know for certain, I have benefitted. My walk with Him is closer and easier. Even though nothing in my life is certain right now, from where my family will be living to how the school year will progress, I do not feel worried. I am not anxious. I know that God has a plan and He will take care of everything. If any of it is hard, I won’t be facing it alone. John 14:27 (NIV) says: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”. Philippians 4:6-7 says: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.” I hope you experience the peace of God. Smile and be joyful!
