There are many products that advertise miracles in order to get our attention. Who wouldn’t jump at the chance for true “Miracle Weight Loss”? What balding man would not buy a “Miracle Hair Growth” product if it actually worked? And every day, I get texts and junk emails about “Miracle Oils”, that some people say truly help their chronic pain. Some of these products do help some people. If someone advertised a “Miracle House Cleaning Wand”, I might be tempted to give it a try. But true miracles are God’s department. A miracle can be defined as “a surprising and welcome inexplicable, or highly improbable extraordinary event” or “an amazing product or achievement”. So, basically, it is something that “works” or happens, but we don’t understand why or how. A more Biblical definition of a miracle is “an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause…considered as a work of God.” I believe in miracles and I know that they all come from God. For me it is as simple as this: God created everything. If I believe that, then I know He can do anything. Another of my basic beliefs is: God has a plan. The Bible says both these things. If I pray for something and God does not “give it to me”, it is because my plan and His plan are not the same. He is writing the symphony that is my life and it is made up of many parts. If I try to force my own plans to happen outside of His will, I am inserting a sour note into His work of art. What I see as disappointments or catastrophes, God knows are notes and stanzas of a much bigger masterpiece. Also, my symphony is only a small part of a much greater work that He is creating. The whole world is in His hands. What miracles will God perform in our lives today? Will they be grand and noticeable to all or will they be quiet victories of the heart and simple everyday things that are His gift to us? Either way, we should thank Him for His vision and marvel at His works. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” You are God’s masterpiece. Smile and be joyful!
